For vehicles without a valid pass, the published rate is $2.50 per hour or $10 for the day. Payment is cashless. Satellite Beach residents can apply for a virtual permit, while nonresidents can obtain a free annual pass limited to Pelican Beach Park and Hightower East. Those passes can take up to 72 hours to approve, so they are not a same-evening fix for visiting houseguests.
The city also prohibits beach parking along A1A and on residential streets. Smaller accesses may have little or no parking. When several people are meeting, Pelican Beach Park or Hightower Beach Park provide the more predictable setup.

From the Atlantic side, the evening offers softer light and afterglow over the ocean, but the sun itself is setting toward the Banana River, the canals, and the west side of the barrier island.
If the goal is direct sunset color, face west. If the goal is an ocean walk in lower heat, the Atlantic side still works well. Those are different plans, even though they happen during the same hour.

That changes the nature of an after-dark beach visit. A phone flashlight is not a harmless convenience. Red light is not an automatic workaround. A bonfire is not a summer option.
The responsible plan is to finish the gear-heavy part of the beach visit before full darkness, keep artificial light off the sand, and leave marked nests and wildlife undisturbed.
